Electromagnetic Fields (EMF)
Electromagnetic fields (EMF) are forces which are created by household wiring and
magnetic/electrical devices in our environment. The public has mostly heard of EMF in the
controversy about high-tension power lines and cell phones causing cancer. Some studies have
suggested that high EMF levels may cause cancer with chronic exposure, and other studies point at
negative neurological responses in mood, memory, concentration, etc. There is, however, no
consensus of research which clearly demonstrates whether EMF can or cannot linked to a variety of
illnesses and health complaints. Many countries have nevertheless opted to err on the side of
caution and have instituted regulations on EMF-producing appliances. Research on the effects of
EMF continue.

Despite the fact that EMF has not been definitively linked to illnesses, there is no sense in knowingly
exposing yourself to elevated levels if avoidable. During our inspections, we may screen the home
for EMF "hot-spots". Knowledge of these "hot-spots" gives our clients the ability to accommodate for
or simply avoid those areas.
