Mold
Numerous television news programs over recent years have highlighted schools and workplaces
labeled "sick buildings." Investigations often reveal the presence of mold growth within these
buildings. What the public may have failed to recognize is that their homes and families are no less
vulnerable to mold growth and the illnesses it can cause.

Molds act principally as allergens and irritants; others can produce toxic substances called
mycotoxins however. Inhaling or coming into contact with mold or its spores can trigger allergic
reactions, with symptoms including sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, skin rashes, itching, headaches,
fatigue, wheezing, and asthma. These symptoms may emerge promptly or be delayed. Mold
allergies are very common, but even those without positive allergy tests can succumb to symptoms.
Simple exposure can irritate the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs in all people.

Given the conditions in Washington state, mold is prevalent and could easily be growing inside your
home. Mold can cause health problems live or dead. It could be going unnoticed since it could be
growing inside walls or behind building materials. Our inspections include a thorough review of
potential sites of mold growth. As part of our spectrum of services, we are additionally equipped to
test for the presence of both live and dead mold in indoor air.
